I forgot to move the elf and everything is shut. What now?
Pick the 2-minute option and leave the props unselected — the generator falls back to ideas that need nothing but the elf itself, like hiding it in the fridge, tucking it into a slipper or leaving a trail of selfies on your phone. All of them take under two minutes in a house with nothing special in it.
What are the easiest Elf on the Shelf ideas?
The ones using something you already have out: toilet paper, marshmallows, cereal, laundry or LEGO. Wrapping the elf like a mummy in toilet paper, sitting it in a mug of marshmallows like a bubble bath, or planting it at the top of the laundry pile all take about a minute and photograph well.
How do I keep the elf interesting for 24 days?
Vary the effort rather than escalating it. A big flour snow-angel one night buys you three lazy nights afterwards, and children remember the funny ones, not the elaborate ones. The generator tracks what it has already shown you so you don't repeat yourself.
Is the elf allowed to bring messages from Santa?
