Rudolph is the youngest of the team. He was created in 1939 by Robert L. May for a Christmas booklet — a little reindeer teased for his glowing red nose, until one foggy Christmas Eve Santa realised that nose was exactly what the sleigh needed.
Ten years later the song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” made him the most famous reindeer in the world. The lesson stuck, too: the thing that makes you different can be the thing that saves Christmas.
